Is God not sovereign?
Has He lost control or been dethroned?
Does He not my footsteps make?
Has He left me to myself for every evil now to take?

It is not so, and can never be
He reigns on High, and yet
He has a throne, yes, it’s deep inside of me

What am I to fear or worry now?
When this truth shall always prevail
Nothing have I to do but accept this rest
Found deep within His sovereign love!

Here I find every answer I need
Sweet security on which I rest and rejoice
Ever thankful for this gift of freedom
So grand a treasure, and now mine at last!

And so I must ask,
Was God not sovereign in my past?
Shall I not now release its hold?
And tightly store this truth within
And be free at last, yes, free at last!
