I once heard a sermon on the love of God based on John 21:1-14, that greatly comforted me. This is what I learned.
Like Peter, we will all likely fail God in one way or another at sometime or another. Even so, it is good to be convicted, so we can repent, so we can grow. Only then can we be more like Him and our hearts become as one.
Whenever I struggles with sin or disappointing God in anywat, I’ve felt sadness, guilt, disqualified and shame. The enemy would delight in my self-condemnatoin and strive to convince me that God no longer loved me. But God.
HIs truth prevails. Jesus knows us, and never stops loving us. He can’t because He is love. So when we miss it, we must run to the shore of Love, like Peter did, where Jesus us waiting for us with forgiveness, and the “food” of truth that He STILL loves us, and loves us unconditionally. Jesus desires most of all to know that we STILL love Him. All that’s matters to Him is that He always has our heart. We always have His.
So, as we journey along, let us always remember that Jesus who is love, is always waiting for us on the shore.
