This song is about detours that result from not trusting in God. We want to trust, but it requires dying to parts of ourselves that God can’t use and won’t accept. Failure to obey is disobedience and hinders our relationship with Him—the One who loves us more than anything.
Here We Go Again
The description of the song
My Story
Fear of letting go of habits, people, expectations, wrong behaviors, and twisted thinking took its toll on my relationship with the Lord. I had to learn the hard way to obey without questions and without needing to understand everything. I circled many mountains over and over again. Everything He demanded was like an “Isaac” I had to put on the altar. Nothing was allowed that would separate us—that included nothing in me.
The Lyrics
You knew I’d miss the mark
Not just once
But time again and again
Just like before,
Yes, again
Here we are
Again!
Yes, this looks familiar
I’ve been here before
The same trial, the same test
Lord, You’ve been gracious
To give me one more try
So Here We Go Again
Around the same mountain
We’ve both been before
I know that You already know
If I will trust You now
To grace me through
To do what I need to do
Only You know
How this will end
Or if we’ll be seeing this same mountain
Yet again!
I can’t say I’ve grown enough
If I’m gonna make it through
If I’ll pass this time and
Put this test finally to rest
Oh, It feels the same to me
So I can’t promise,
I can’t promise I’ll graduate
Please, please, Lord
Don’t let it be too late!
So Here We Go Again
Round the same mountain
We’ve been here before
Will I trust You now?
To grace me through
To do what You want
To do what You would do?
Lord,
I’m resting in Your endless grace
In Your forever faithfulness
Your promises so true
They are rooted in You
And You said You’d never forsake me
You said You’d see me through
That You will correct
Yes, You’d even perfect
What concerns both me and You
So, my trust is in You, Lord
To do what only You can do
So You have my permission
To grace me through this transformation
Make it sure, Lord
So I won’t see this same mountain
Not this one, not this one
Anymore.
