The Purple Swan tells the story of a little boy who learns that God answers prayers in unexpected ways and teaches him how to see himself and others through his heart, not his eyes.

This page is dedicated to sharing more about the book, The Purple Swan and how God has used it to impact lives. Enjoy!

Background:
The story is 95% true and based on an event from one of my family vacations. Only the ending has been added to provide closure for the lesson that was learned from the experience.

It all started when a photograph was taken of a black swan. When the picture of the black swan was developed, the swan appeared purple. The miracle of the photograph led to a testimony, which led to the book, ThePurple Swan. The book has been as a ministry tool in Africa, India and Brazil to teach believers about the faithfulness of God to answer our prayers, however sometimes in unexpected ways, and how to see with our heart and not our eyes!

This is a video I did for an English class in Brazil when the students were preparing to be sent out to be missionaries. What a wonderful opportunity is was to share this story with them. This was important because there were going to ministry in places unlike where they were from and to people that were very different than them.

Reactions to the book:
Many of the children who have heard this story had experienced rejection and neglect. It was amazing how much they identified with the Purple Swan and it initially triggered some sad feelings. However, after hearing the end of the story, many experienced hope, healing and peace. They were also able to better understand how God sees them and how much He loves them.
