This song is about a love encounter with God who is Love. We are all looking for love or hoping it will find us. Love Himself knows this and intentionally created a need for Him in all of us. He longs for relationship—a slow dance with each of us, where we can hear His heartbeat, feel His loving embrace, and rest securely in His arms through all of life’s twists and turns.
Slow Dance
The description of the song
My Story
I genuinely love to slow dance, and I honestly can’t think of anything more holy, precious, or intimate than slow dancing with the One who died to love me. I hope when I arrive in Heaven, I’ll hear Him say “well done,” but after that, I long to hear Him say, “May I have this dance?”
The Lyrics
I was alone
Sitting in a corner, still
When You came to me
I was surprised
You appeared, a Prince
You surely caught my eye
You asked me most sweetly
“May I have this dance?”
You gently took my hand
And we began to dance
You held me so closely
You already knew
That this was my first dance
And my fears I’d lose with You
And dance we did to many songs
The music never faded
And when I stepped on Your toes
You spun me around again
You smiled and held me closer
You wanted me to know…
Our dance would last a lifetime
Our dance, no, this dance would never end
That You would be faithful and true
Through every twist, turn and bend
No matter what song life played
You would hold me closer still
Your love for me would never change
As long as I hold on to You
You wanted to hear my heartbeat
And then I could hear Yours beat too
This was a love I never knew
But always wanted…
Yes, I’ve fallen
I’ve fallen in love
With You
It was only just one question,
That led me to all of this
To a love so amazing, faithful, and true
A union so divine
It would stand the test of time
This dance, O this wonderful dance
Is now mine
Because You asked
And I accepted
It will never end
I’m so glad that I accepted
A slow dance with You
